Upcoming Events

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

This is a special announcement from the leadership team at the CUNY Institute for Education Policy.

The Johns Hopkins University School of Education, the nation’s number one graduate school of education, is launching a new institute for education policy and has appointed David Steiner as its executive director. The institute’s core mission is to forge powerful links between research, policy and practice throughout the country to leverage effective education reform. David has also been appointed as a professor at the School of Education. Ashley Berner has been appointed as visiting assistant professor and the new institute’s deputy director.

Hunter College and Johns Hopkins School of Education are exploring the possibility of a new Education Policy Forum at Roosevelt House, so that many of our core activities can take place in that familiar venue. It is our hope to continue to gather educational leaders here in NYC for public as well as off-the-record debates and discussions. Through our association with Johns Hopkins, the new institute will draw from an even larger pool of policy-maker and world-class scholars. David will continue to moderate these events. Ashley will remain in New York, and Kelly Siegel-Stechler will still serve as our New York program manager.

We look forward to working with you all to strengthen New York’s non-partisan, research-based examination of educational excellence and equity. Please write to us with ideas and comments, and watch for announcements about our inaugural work under the Hopkins-Hunter name.

All the best,

David, Ashley, & Kelly
