Non-Traditional Schools and Models

Some of America’s school systems have begun to explore alternative models to the traditional neighborhood school, as a means to closing the achievement gap. Such alternatives include charter schools, online learning, or attendance at non-state schools through the use of vouchers or education tax credits. The effectiveness of these interventions seems to vary; research suggests that the outcomes depend on many different factors. The research included in this library seeks to clarify the effectiveness of alternative school policies that focus on closing the achievement gap.
