Parent Involvement

Parents play an important role in their child’s cognitive development. Consequently, scholars and policy-makers pay attention to understanding predictors of parental involvement as well as its effects upon student achievement. There is still much we do not know, such as how schools can remove barriers to parent involvement, what constitute the mechanisms behind how parent involvement works, and how to raise involvement levels among low-income and disadvantaged populations. This library provides the most recent research on whether parent involvement indeed raises achievement, how parent involvement works, and how school systems promote parent involvement.
